[Clint shrugs in response. He's done it. A lot of people have done it.]

You do whatever it takes to keep going for one more day. If that means putting on your game face even when you feel like breaking, that's what you do.

[And hoped you retained enough of yourself to do it all again the next day.]

Yeah, sometimes it does.

Eventually you will break. It is up to you to decide if you allow yourself to break.

[Loki sits back in his chair, observing Clint closely and when he has done so he smiles broadly.]

It is an absolute pleasure to talk with you, Clint Barton.

Sometimes you don't get a choice.

[He endures the scrutiny, raising an eyebrow when Loki grins at him. He lets out a harsh bark of laughter.]

Liar.

[Loki chuckles softly when Clint starts to laugh.]

I never lie, Clint Barton. Even though I will not deny the fact that it is quite easy to accuse Loki of telling untruths.

[He shrugs shortly.]

Believe me, this conversation has been quite pleasant. Are there any questions you want me to answer? After all, you have been most kind to answer mine.

Everyone lies. And I'm terrible company. [He shrugs dismissively. It wasn't so much an insult. People lied. You got used to it.]

You know anything about a glowing blue cube? The tesseract. A source of enormous energy.

I do not and you are not.

[Loki's voice sounds serious and as a matter of fact, he is quite serious. Especially about himself not being a liar.]

I am not familiar with a glowing cube called a tesseract.

[He shakes his head and then he realizes something.]

Does my older self still have that sceptre that makes him able to control minds and the like?

[Clint gives him a look, searching his face. The kid obviously believes that at least.

Pity he doesn't know about it but Clint wasn't expecting much anyway. He raises an eyebrow at the question.]

Not in Luceti. But yeah, he had the sceptre when he broke into the facility.

What does it do? Does it only control minds? Or does it hold other powers as well?

[Loki makes a juggling motion with his hands.]

A multifunctional sceptre, right?

It's a weapon. He can blast people with energy from it. [Acted a hell of a lot like Hydra tech they'd heard of from Steve's time.

He gives a soft snort at the joke.]

Yeah, it's a real Swiss Army kinda deal.

Ah, a clever referral to utility knives from the land of Swiss, yes! I get it.

[Yes, he's proud of that.]

Has he displayed other...powers? Like sorcery?

Very good. I'm proud.

Yeah. He has. Illusions, copies of himself. Invisibility.

There is no limit to the joy I feel right now, Clint Barton.

[He leans a bit forward, elbows resting on the table.]

Sounds very much like Loki, yes.

[Loki pauses for a moment and moves to tap his fingers on the surface of the table.]

Would you consider him a threat to everyone in this realm?

I'm sure.

[His tone is so very very dry right now.

He goes silent at the question and leans back in his seat.]

No. He's as trapped as the rest of us. Until something changes, he's not gonna throw away what ground he's gained.
