Every year, two kids from every district are chosen as tributes. They're at least 12, not older than 18. The tributes are taken to the Capitol, cleaned up, shown off, then sent to an arena. The Gamemakers create the arena, supply the tributes, and sometimes change the weather or create beasts if things get slow. The tributes are there until exposure, sickness, starvation, animals, or -- preferably -- combat with other tributes kills all but one. The victor.
The entire thing is televised.
It makes the Malnosso look pretty good in comparison.
