1. [accidental sound --> video]
[Everyone who is listening can hear the sound of leaves rustling followed by a soft groan coming from someone's mouth.
After that there are footsteps that slowly fade away but get louder again after a minute or two. Apparently someone discovered the book and the small yelp followed by a referral to Odin's empty eye socket might give the impression that someone managed to step into a pinecone with his bare foot.
There is more rustling and a soft thud, the sound of someone opening a book and...]
Oh! It is a Midgardian recording device in a book!
How perfectly...impractical!
[Since the owner of this voice, Loki Laufeyson from Asgard, is really fond of any Midgardian way of communicating through long-distance connections he figures the book out in a rather quick way.
Eventually his face appears on everyone's feed, finger tapping against the screen to test if it might be a screen of touch, like his own phone of Stark used to have.]
Everyone! I figure this book of communication has been left to me with a certain purpose. So I shall ask for your aid, yes?
[Loki takes a deep breath.]
First of all, someone has provided me with white pants, yet has forgotten to give me a proper shirt. Second of all, I am fairly sure this is not Broxton.
Is there a town nearby? At least one where I can get proper garments?

[action]
That is not entirely correct. An adult version of myself has experienced way more in life than a mere child. I am afraid that I might not be able to answer all your questions.
[Yet, he sits back.]
But I shall do my very best, yes?
[He nods.]
Indeed. And I am afraid I am not able to explain that. My memory has been downsized quite a bit after Thor came to seek me out.
[action]
[He could draw a diagram of it, one circle inside the other.]
For example, you know what we are. I only found that out myself less than one year ago.
[He crosses his arms over his chest.]
So perhaps you ought to start by explaining 'downsized.'
[action]
[Loki gets comfortable on the chair, pulling his legs up and folds his hands.]
There is not much I have to explain about that. I have no recollection of our past deeds, therefore I am unable to describe them. All I can say is that older!self has died sacrificing himself for Asgard after being responsible for its destruction.
[He shrugs and gives a symphatetic smile.]
Have you been treated differently because of that? Ridiculed? Mocked?
Ah! And I would like something to drink as well.
[action]
[He takes the news about the destruction of Asgard and his own apparent sacrifice - or his other self, perhaps? - with apparent calm.
But he doesn't like this at all. Even if he can feel the shape in relation to his own game.
The question, however, makes him snort.]
I... left Asgard shortly after I found out. So I would say there was not much opportunity for such things.
Though it certainly provided ample explanation for the way I was treated. [He shrugs, lips compressing in a thin line.] None knew why, but plainly felt I was different all the same.
[Right. Drinks.]
Water or tea.
[action]
The only thing that stands out that this older Loki, he himself, seems to be affected by his emotions, in pain even. In a sense it does do something to notice that, the way his face changes when he is referring to his background.
He makes a mental note that he does not want to feel like that, ever. And he wants to tell his older self as well but he does not know how.]
Tea...? Ah, yes. Tea it is.
[He nods again and seems to be deep in thought.]
And Thor? Did he treat you different?
[action]
Thor is an idiot. There's no significant difference between him and the rest.
His shadow is a cold thing to be.
[action]
Do not speak ill of my brother.
[He shifts in the chair, unfolding his legs, the look on his face serious.]
[action]
He is no brother of mine.
[He walks back over to his younger self and thumps the mug of tea down in front of him]
And I shall speak as I like.
[Pathetic, he thinks. Even his younger self likes Thor better. He stalks away to see to his own cup of tea, dumping it out in the sink and starting a new one.]
[action]
[Loki takes the mug from the table the minute the other puts it down. He repeats his words again.]
He is.
[He curls his hands around the mug.]
Of course one can speak as one likes. But do mind your words, yes?
[action]
And if you aim for childish bickering over this obvious fact, you may leave my house.
[action]
[He takes a sip of his tea. He is not one for arguments, at least, not if they are not necessary.]
Point taken, older self. I shall not mention Thor any longer. It is obviously quite painful to you.
[Loki peers into his mug.]
I like this tea.
[action]
Not so much painful as maddening.
[But still, he relaxes slightly.]
It's called oolong. I rather like it.
[action]
Maddening, ah I see. Maddening...
[He nods halfheartedly and thinks of his brother for a moment and has to conclude that he still misses him.]
Its good. And warm.
But older-self, world domination?
[He vaguely remembers that Tony Stark told him this.]
Why?
[action]
Reading too many psychology texts, perhaps?
[But the next question, he finds very amusing.]
Tell me, younger self, have we ever played a game so simplistic as that? Come now. A little faith.
[action]
It is good that we meet.
[He smiles the most friendly smile he can muster.]
Yes. It is good that you are here, older self.
[action]
No, younger self. It's very bad.
I've business which requires my attention. I've contingencies, but none prepared for me being entirely absent from our known universe.
[action]
[Loki's voice sounds playful, as if he is making a joke. But he is afraid it is actually not a joke. But he nods.]
Will you be missed?
[Because Asgard sure as hell will not miss him when he is gone, or well, maybe Leah. But she would never say such things out loud.]
[action]
It depends upon to whom you've been listening, I suppose. You ought to know better than that. [He cocks his head.] Or do you?
Those things are utterly pointless for their own sake.
[He laughs in earnest now, a mix of humor and pain.]
Another question you ought to know better than to ask.
[action]
Let me correct myself...
[He smiles.]
...restore one's pride?
Ah, and of course... If Asgard would have a poll of popularity, we would end up at the bottom.
[The tone of his voice is light.]
[action]
'tis on the list, but I've far more important things in mind than pride.
[He snorts.]
Were the universe entire to have such a poll, I should think.
[action]
[He looks at his older self, expecting the other to not answer this.]
Do not fret, older-self, I do understand your motivations, yes?
[Loki does, in a sense, but he also definitely doesn't.]
[action]
[But that is no guarantee of an answer. He knows his younger self must already understand this point.
He snorts a bit rudely.]
I do not fret.
[While it would be nice if his younger self understood, he also knows that there is a massive gap of experience there. And he's basically given up on being understood. It's a hollow desire anyway.]
You don't seem at all surprised about meeting your older self. Why?
[action]
[Loki makes note of the snort but does not reply to it. And he thinks his older self frets a lot. Just like he himself frets over certain things. It is only logical that these things will be kept to themselves.]
I have met my older self before. He differs from you. He is...an older older self.
I wish not to become like him.
[A pause.]
Just that you know, I really disliked answering this question, yes?
[action]
Ah good, you now how this game is played. No, I shan't answer.
[He tilts his head, frowning. Well, he supposes it's a relief that he's apparently survived long enough to get older than he is.
Hah.]
And you wish to not become like me, either.
I find it odd you think you have a choice.
[Of course, there are always future visions and warnings, but there is also causality. There is who they are and how they are treated, experiences brick by brick becoming a wall that surrounds them.]
Though 'tis an interesting thought. What do you think you will become, otherwise? A potted plant? A dancing bear? A good little warrior of Asgard, rolled in gold leaf and glory?
We are what we are.
[action]
I am most curious, you see.
[There is really no motivation to change? To break a certain cycle? Its disappointing and it shows on Loki's face.]
What I shall become is still uncertain. Yet, becoming something driven by anger and bitterness...that seems most gross to me.
We are not what we are.
