1. [accidental sound --> video]

[Everyone who is listening can hear the sound of leaves rustling followed by a soft groan coming from someone's mouth.

After that there are footsteps that slowly fade away but get louder again after a minute or two. Apparently someone discovered the book and the small yelp followed by a referral to Odin's empty eye socket might give the impression that someone managed to step into a pinecone with his bare foot.

There is more rustling and a soft thud, the sound of someone opening a book and...]

Oh! It is a Midgardian recording device in a book!

How perfectly...impractical!

[Since the owner of this voice, Loki Laufeyson from Asgard, is really fond of any Midgardian way of communicating through long-distance connections he figures the book out in a rather quick way.

Eventually his face appears on everyone's feed, finger tapping against the screen to test if it might be a screen of touch, like his own phone of Stark used to have.]

Everyone! I figure this book of communication has been left to me with a certain purpose. So I shall ask for your aid, yes?

[Loki takes a deep breath.]

First of all, someone has provided me with white pants, yet has forgotten to give me a proper shirt. Second of all, I am fairly sure this is not Broxton.

Is there a town nearby? At least one where I can get proper garments?

Oh, sure. [Is that an excuse to ramble magic? Because he can totally do that. He starts for the clothing shop first, gesturing as he walks.] We can talk in the store actually, if you want- I could use some more civvies.

[And he's still on the lookout for his more dorky shirts, just in case.]

Civvies- oh, uh. I guess they didn't have that in Asgard.

[Is he an official guide to Earth customs, now? Because he can roll with that.]

It means "civilian clothes". It's what supers usually wear when they're not in costume.
selfhelp: ([wiccan] heh. I was right on the mark.)

[Pffft, that's such a great expression. Billy follows his eyes to the clothing on display, zeroing in on something that looks... kind of Asgardian? It's hard to tell when it's piled like that, but he's just going to take an educated guess.]

Let me guess, you found your own stuff? It shows up here within the first few days, so don't worry, this is normal.
selfhelp: ([wiccan] what? it's cool!)

[Witty excla- oh god he means the joke shirts. Loki likes the joke shirts.

This? This is awesome, and he grins, shaking his head with one hand rested on his hip. He waves apologetically at the shopkeeper (who has already lost interest- sigh, clueless New Feathers - and follows Loki over to the display.]

Actually, money doesn't exist here. You can basically take what you want and not have to pay for any of it.

Yeah, that's right. It's not the greatest deal in the world, but I've definitely seen worse.

[He blinks at the shirt, taken aback for a moment - holy crap, that's seriously a rageface shirt. And now he's kind of kicking himself for not finding it first; Teddy probably would've loved it.

The mental image of Loki wearing it is a nice trade-off, though, admittedly.]

I prefer the troll, myself.
selfhelp: ([wiccan] milady of asgard~?)

[Oh wow, he actually found one, Billy takes the shirt with a grin, slinging it over his arm and nodding his head.]

Sounds like a plan. So you've got an outfit, and you can always come back for more- want to find a place to stay until you can go home, next?
selfhelp: ([wiccan] fanboy mode: on!)

I've got one better- a whole apartment. You can stay there for free, if you want. There's lots of room.
selfhelp: ([wiccan] i'm an avenger now.)

[...Ouch, poor kid. Billy doesn't correct him, though- let him hold on to that confidence. No reason to make him doubt it right away, or potentially start an argument.]

Sure, come on. It's not far from here, so we can just walk.

[Aaaand he starts off, leading the way out of the store and along the path towards building #5.]

Plenty, yeah. It's got 8 floors, so it would be pretty depressing if it was just me. It can't compete with the skyscrapers back home, but it's a step up from all the little houses around here.
selfhelp: ([wiccan] ...oh. didn't expect that.)

[personal profile] selfhelp 2012-10-03 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
What? No way! You can have your own apartment. There's an empty one right across from mine- you get your own room with a bed and everything.
selfhelp: ([wiccan] you're getting sleeeeepy)

P-pen- [Billy has to conceal a laugh. It's really- it's cute. Ugh, Loki, stop being cute.] You mean pen pals? I don't mind that, but you could just be my neighbour and visit sometimes, too. My apartment's number 21.

[Poor kid's looking pretty wasted, though, so once they're through the apartment doors, Billy lifts his hands again, calling up his magic.]

Hold on, we don't have to take the stairs. This is a shorter jump than going from the plaza.

[Teleporting to the fifth floor, whee?]

[And lo, they have arrived! Billy lets the magic settle and fade, then points to the rooms available on Susan's side of the hall.]

These two are what's open right now- on this floor, anyway. I'm just gonna pick one now, if you don't mind, and you can move to whichever apartment you want after you've slept.

[He starts for #25, which is closest- plus it has the best window arrangement.]
